Ukrainian president calls for faster security guarantees
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had a “very substantive conversation” with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, emphasising the need to accelerate security guarantees for Ukraine and strengthen air defences.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of close coordination with the United States and NATO “for the sake of real diplomacy," Caliber.Az reports.
“It is important to move faster on security guarantees for Ukraine, to be as productive as possible together with America, to strengthen our air defence,” he wrote.
He added that while Russian President Vladimir Putin appears to reject negotiations, global pressure could influence Moscow’s willingness to end the war. Zelenskyy also thanked all international partners assisting Ukraine.
“Putin pretends he does not need peace, does not need negotiations, but in fact global pressure can shape Russia’s interest in ending the war. I thank everyone helping,” he wrote.
