US approves $8.6 billion arms sales package to Israel, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar
The U.S. Department of State has approved a series of major foreign military sales to Middle Eastern allies, totaling approximately $8.6 billion, according to official notifications.
The deals include advanced missile systems, air defence capabilities, and supporting logistics for Israel, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, Caliber.Az reports.
The largest package involves Qatar, with an estimated value of $4.01 billion for Patriot air and missile defence replenishment systems. The request includes hundreds of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missile interceptors, along with associated support equipment, spare parts, and technical assistance.
Kuwait has been approved for a $2.5 billion Integrated Battle Command System, designed to enhance coordination of air and missile defence networks.
Israel’s approved package, valued at $992.4 million, includes 10,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS-II) units, along with training, spare parts, technical support, and logistics services.
The United Arab Emirates has also been cleared for a smaller $147.6 million sale of APKWS systems and related equipment.
U.S. officials said the approvals include full support packages such as engineering assistance, maintenance, training, and sustainment services.
