US, Armenia hold joint drills against weapons of mass destruction threats
US Defence Department specialists participated in exercises held in Yerevan, Armenia, focusing on combating nuclear, chemical, and biological threats.
According to TASS, the Armenian Security Council's Facebook page shared a report on the event.
The exercises, which took place from May 20 to 24, involved joint staff exercises among representatives of governmental bodies responsible for managing emergencies arising from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear factors. Conducted within the framework of countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD), these exercises were coordinated by the Armenian Security Council staff with support from the Threat Reduction Agency of the US Department of Defence.
According to the release, the exercises aimed to monitor and enhance existing capabilities and response measures to prevent the proliferation of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. These efforts seek to evaluate current readiness and response capabilities, identify potential gaps, particularly in interagency cooperation, and potentially lay the groundwork for developing a national response plan.
