US intel reports no evidence of foreign interference in 2024 elections
US intelligence agencies have not detected any foreign attempts to interfere in the 2024 elections, according to a recent briefing from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
In a statement to reporters, a representative from ODNI affirmed that there have been no recorded instances of foreign actors attempting to disrupt or interfere with the electoral process for the upcoming 2024 elections, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“We have not observed any foreign attempts to interfere in the conduct of the 2024 elections,” the official said.
The representative explained that, within the intelligence community, election interference is defined as actions aimed at weakening or disrupting the US electoral process, rather than efforts to influence the outcome of the elections directly. This distinction is crucial as it underscores the focus on protecting the integrity of the election process itself from foreign disruptions.
The official elaborated that, rather than direct interference, the intelligence community has observed foreign entities engaging in information and propaganda campaigns. These efforts are intended to influence public opinion, sway voter preferences, and undermine confidence in the electoral system, rather than attempting to tamper with the actual mechanics of the election.
