US President Biden holds security meetings amid rumors of his death
On July 22, US President Joe Biden conducted several meetings with security officials, countering rumours about his purported demise.
The White House said that President Biden received briefings from his assistant and internal security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall and his national security adviser Jake Sullivan. Both meetings were held virtually, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Earlier, Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert demanded proof of Biden's well-being, suspecting a cover-up of his death due to his recent absence from public view. She called his two-day silence unacceptable, sparking public concern.
Additionally, sources in the American media indicated that President Biden was preparing a speech to address Americans regarding his potential withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. "Biden and his closest aides began work on the speech, which he mentioned in his Sunday letter, promising to explain 'in detail' why he decided to withdraw from the campaign 2024," the sources reported.
Currently, Biden is quarantined in Delaware after testing positive for COVID-19. Despite his desire to return to the White House promptly, his advisers have recommended delaying his national address.
Meanwhile, Buddy Carter, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives from Georgia, criticized the American media in a Wall Street Journal article for allegedly misleading the public about Biden's health and overlooking his mistakes and lies.
"Americans saw Biden's health failing, but they were told not to believe it. They listened about the economic recovery, being forced to choose whether they could pay for petrol or groceries. They were told not to believe that [former US president Donald] Trump was being prosecuted in a politicized judicial system. Whenever Biden stumbled when he lied, the media excused him rather than asking him tough questions," Carter wrote.
Carter also asserted that the US press has been attempting to depict Trump as a tyrant leading a "fractured and divided Republican Party," while in reality, "Republicans are united." He contended that the media should be held responsible for concealing the divisions within the Democratic Party.
