US says it intercepted Iranian missiles, drones targeting Gulf region
The United States military has said it intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and nearby Gulf states, in what it described as a coordinated series of attacks.
According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Iranian forces fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain following the downing of four Iranian one-way attack drones targeting the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the drones posed an immediate threat to maritime traffic in the region, Caliber.Az reports.

The U.S. military also said it carried out strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island, in response to what it described as ongoing threats to maritime security.
Initial assessments indicated that six of the missiles were intercepted, while a seventh did not reach its intended target. CENTCOM reported no injuries or casualties among U.S. personnel.
The command also rejected Iranian claims that the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain had been damaged, calling them false.
“CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and postured to continue responding to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defense,” the statement said.
