US Secretary of State: Ceasefire agreement for Gaza almost finalised
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced that a ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip is 90 per cent finalised.
He made this statement during a press conference in Port-au-Prince following his visit to Haiti, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We are making progress on this issue, and from what I have seen, 90 per cent of the agreement is settled. However, there are a few critical issues that still need to be resolved, particularly concerning the implementation of certain aspects of the agreement,” Blinken said.
He noted that some issues, including the Philadelphia Corridor and the exchange of hostages and prisoners, have been recently discussed. Blinken's assessment of the ceasefire negotiations differs from that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu expressed the view that Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas are still far from reaching an agreement on Gaza.
A senior US official claimed that the new American ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip is essentially 90 per cent agreed upon. However, Netanyahu effectively refuted this claim, stating that "this is definitely false".
