US senator opposes Iran war funding without congressional approval
US Republican Senator John Curtis said he cannot support funding for further military operations in the conflict with Iran unless Congress formally declares war.
In a post on X, Curtis stated: While I support maintaining our readiness and replenishing stockpiles, I cannot support funding for further military operations without a formal declaration of war from Congress.”

The Utah senator added that although he backs President Donald Trump’s military campaign in the Middle East, “we must be clear-eyed about history and the Constitution.”
Divisions are emerging among Republicans in Congress over the war in Iran. Key lawmakers are increasingly skeptical about committing hundreds of billions of dollars to a prolonged conflict, with some refusing to approve funding without a clear strategy from the White House.
