The US Transport Authority has sent the first shipment of Bradley combat vehicles to Ukraine as part of a $2.85 billion military assistance agreement announced earlier this year.
This was announced by the Visual Information Distribution Service of the US Defense Ministry, as reported by European Integration.
A shipment containing over 60 Bradley units has left South Carolina last week, which will "will provide Ukrainian forces with additional offensive and defensive capabilities to defend their borders against the illegal Russian invasion", their report said.
"We hope that this will strengthen the ability of the Ukrainians to move forward on the battlefield and return the lost territories, as they will have equipment that corresponds to or even exceeds what the Russians have", commented the Commander of the 841st transport battalion, Army Lieutenant Colonel Rebecca D'Angelo.
The Bradley is an armoured combat vehicle that transports infantry into a combat zone and fires supporting fire.
Along with 60 Bradley, the Biden administration announced a $2.5 billion package of assistance, including ammunition, missiles, and Stryker armoured personnel carriers.
Overall, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, the US military assistance provided to Kyiv already exceeds $26.7 billion.
