US VP: Trump’s bond with Britain, monarchy could unlock "great" trade deal
The United States and the United Kingdom could strike a “great” trade deal, thanks in part to President Donald Trump’s admiration for the UK and its royal family, according to US Vice President J.D. Vance.
Vance said the Trump administration is working closely with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government on the details of a potential bilateral trade agreement, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“President Trump truly loves the United Kingdom. He admired the late Queen, and he respects and likes the King – these are very important relationships,” Vance said.
He noted that Trump, a businessman by background, also has several significant commercial ties to Britain.
But beyond business, Vance emphasised what he described as a “genuine cultural closeness” between the two nations.
“Fundamentally, of course, America is an English-speaking country,” he added, suggesting that this shared heritage could help facilitate a favourable outcome.
“There’s a good chance we’ll reach a great agreement that benefits both countries,” Vance concluded.
