Uzbekistan seeks deeper ties with Sri Lanka across key sectors
Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka have discussed ways to deepen bilateral economic cooperation, with a focus on key sectors including tourism, agriculture and industry.
Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Shokhrukh Gulyamov, met Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry Secretary Aruni Ranaraja on July 10 to review the current state of relations and explore opportunities for expanding trade and investment ties.
According to officials, the talks focused on strengthening cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including tourism, agriculture, textiles, the extraction and trade of precious stones, transport and logistics, pharmaceuticals and mineral fertiliser production.
The two sides also considered establishing a Joint Intergovernmental Commission and a Business Council, which are expected to support the coordination of practical projects and provide a framework for advancing bilateral cooperation.
