Water leak causes damage at US Johnstown Flood Museum Leading to Temporary Closure
A museum in Pennsylvania dedicated to the memory of a devastating 19th-century flood has been temporarily shut down due to flooding.
The Johnstown Flood Museum in Cambria County revealed that the closure was caused by an internal water leak resulting from recent extreme cold weather, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The leak caused water to seep through the museum’s walls, damaging carpets, drywall, and ceiling tiles.
Fortunately, no items of historical importance were harmed, and museum docent Nikki Bosley was credited with discovering the leak before it caused significant damage. However, the museum has not yet provided a timeline for when it will reopen.
The Johnstown Flood Museum commemorates the Great Johnstown Flood of May 31, 1889, which resulted in the deaths of 2,209 people and the destruction of 1,600 homes.
