Western Azerbaijan Community calls EU leaders to reconsider their anti-Azerbaijan statement
The West Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has commented on the joint statement of the leaders of Armenia, the EU, France and Germany, adopted following the meeting in Granada, Spain on October 5.
The community said the statement is discriminatory.
“We, the West Azerbaijan Community, representing Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia, express deep disappointment and concern regarding the discriminatory statement made by the leaders of Armenia, the European Union, France and Germany on October 5, 2023, in the Spanish city of Granada. They refused to recognize the equal and legitimate rights of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes. This erroneous and one-sided statement, which denies our right of return, not only deepens our suffering while also increases tension in the region, preventing the achievement of lasting peace,” the statement said, Caliber.Az reports.
WAC has repeatedly appealed to Armenia and EU countries to create conditions for the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands. Unfortunately, these appeals were met with indifference and silence. With their biased statement in Granada, the EU and some EU member states actually supported Armenia's policy of committing ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis.
“We call on Armenia, the EU, France and Germany to reconsider their position and recognize the right of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes in conditions of safety and dignity,” the community notes.
