World bank forecast 6.8% growth for Kyrgyzstan in 2025
The World Bank has revised its economic forecast for Kyrgyzstan, projecting robust growth for 2025 and placing the country among the fastest-growing economies in Central Asia.
In its latest report, the financial institution estimates Kyrgyzstan’s GDP will expand by 6.8% next year, driven by strong domestic demand and the rapid expansion of the services sector. Over the medium term, growth is expected to stabilize at around 5.5%, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
Key contributors to this upward momentum include the construction industry, services, and private consumption. However, the World Bank warns that investment and exports may be limited due to weaker re-export activity and a challenging external environment.
Despite the positive growth outlook, the report notes that the country’s budget deficit could widen to 2.2% of GDP in 2025. The current account deficit is also expected to narrow to 8.3% of GDP, reflecting continued high import levels and external pressures.
The updated forecast follows a recent report from the Asian Development Bank, which slightly lowered its own projection for Kyrgyzstan’s growth in 2025 to 8.3%, down from a previous estimate of 8.5%.
