Zelenskyy arrives in Switzerland for Davos forum
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Switzerland to take part in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, his press secretary, Serhii Nikiforov, confirmed on January 22.
On the sidelines of the forum, Zelenskyy is scheduled to hold talks with US President Donald Trump. The meeting is expected to begin at around 1:00 p.m. local time. Zelenskyy’s main address at the forum is planned for 2:30 p.m. local time, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
During his visit, the Ukrainian leader will also participate in a panel discussion titled “International Advisory Council for Ukraine’s Recovery.” As part of the event, he is set to meet with representatives of international energy companies.
Earlier, the US-based outlet Axios reported that Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump in Switzerland would coincide with separate talks in Moscow, where White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Axios, both sets of meetings are aimed at discussing a proposed US “peace plan” intended to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
The crisis between the US and its European allies over Greenland has pushed aside plans to hold talks on Ukraine in Davos.
On January 20, Zelenskyy decided not to travel to Switzerland after a massive Russian attack left parts of Ukraine facing water and electricity shortages amid a brutal winter.
