Zelenskyy calls on Europe to sustain pressure on Russia Ahead of Putin-Trump Summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Europe to continue exerting pressure on Russia through sanctions and diplomatic means ahead of the planned meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.
Speaking via his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy emphasised the need for a united front. “We must all continue our pressure — pressure of strength, pressure of sanctions, pressure of diplomacy,” he said.
Zelenskyy also expressed support for Trump’s determination to seek a resolution to the conflict but warned that the West must adopt positions that prevent Russia from deceiving the international community once again.
The much-anticipated talks between Trump and Putin are scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. The main focus will be the peace process in Ukraine, with possible discussions around territorial exchanges and Kyiv’s potential abandonment of NATO membership.
