Zelenskyy: Polish defence chief brings self-propelled guns to Ukraine
During a visit to Kyiv on July 12, Polish Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced the transfer to Ukraine of another batch of Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery units.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the remarks in an evening address, according to European Pravda.
"Today in Kyiv I held talks with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. And he brought us Crabs – those that will powerfully feed our enemy with fire," he said.
Zelenskyy did not specify how many howitzers Ukraine had received.
According to the head of state, he and Blaszczak talked primarily about further defence cooperation.
"However, it is important not only what we discussed, but also how we discussed it. [We are] absolutely confident in Ukraine's future. In the future of Ukrainian Europe," Zelenskyy said.
To recap, the 155-millimetre Krab self-propelled gun weighs about 48 tons and can hit targets at a distance of 40 kilometres, firing up to 6 missiles per minute. The tracked chassis is manufactured under a Korean license, and the gun is a modification of British weapons.
As reported, Blaszczak during his visit to Kyiv on July 12 discussed the possibility of training Ukrainian servicemen on Polish territory.
It should be noted that the total amount of Polish military aid in Ukraine already exceeds $700 million. We are talking about the Polish portable anti-aircraft complexes Piorun and Krab howitzer and about 250 tanks.
