Zelenskyy proposes meeting with Putin in Türkiye, Switzerland or Arab state
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed holding a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Türkiye, Switzerland or one of the Arab countries, suggesting that the two leaders agree on a specific date for talks aimed at ending the war.
In an open letter published on Friday (June 5), Zelenskyy said the initial meeting could take place in a bilateral format, while noting that the United States and European countries could later join the process as potential guarantors of any future agreements, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“I am proposing a meeting,” Zelenskyy wrote.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Ukrainian leader could travel to Moscow if he wished to hold direct talks with Putin.
“President Putin has said that if Zelenskyy wants to talk, he can come to Moscow and do so,” Peskov was quoted as saying by Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti.
