Zelenskyy: Russia no longer holds advantage in war

10 July 2026 13:51

Russia no longer enjoys an advantage in the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated.

Speaking to journalists, he argued that Moscow's remaining leverage lies primarily in its ballistic missile capabilities and attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports.

He noted Ukraine had become stronger both on the battlefield and in the air, crediting Ukrainian servicemen for the progress achieved.

"This is the only advantage it has left. There is nothing else. And everyone sees it. We discussed this with President Trump, and during the summit, I met with many different leaders, including leaders of countries with whom I had not previously met. Everyone notes the same thing: Ukraine has become stronger," Zelenskyy added.

The Ukrainian leader also spoke about the FREYA anti-ballistic missile project, which he described as a European alternative to the US-made Patriot air defence system for intercepting ballistic threats.

According to Zelenskyy, the project is intended to allow for larger-scale production at a lower cost, with the first meeting on its implementation set to take place in France in the near future.

He stressed that Kyiv remains grateful to the United States and European countries for supplying Patriot and SAMP/T NG systems, but noted that production of such complexes remains limited and delivery times are long. For that reason, Ukraine has launched the FREYA project, he said.

Zelenskyy also argued that Ukrainian strikes had already affected Russia's fuel supply situation.

"Russia, whose economy has always been oriented towards exporting its energy resources, is now trying to find fuel somewhere and somehow increase its ability to import fuel. So has Ukraine disrupted this? Ukraine has already disrupted it — we have already done this," he said.
