Kazakhstan refuses to send peacekeepers to Armenia

14 September 2022 09:34

The sending of peacekeepers from Kazakhstan to Armenia amidst the aggravated situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is out of the question.

The statement came from Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi on September 14, according to Tengri News.

“No, there is no such question yet,” Tileuberdi said, answering the question of journalists about whether Kazakhstan can send its peacekeepers to Armenia. “Yesterday, at the extraordinary Collective Security Council of the CSTO, the Prime Minister of Armenia informed the heads of states - members of the CSTO about the situation on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In general, the information was accepted, and, of course, we wanted to receive objective information, because different information comes from both sides. Therefore, the heads of state decided that the CSTO Secretary General would go to the site, get a full vision on the spot, and then inform the heads of state.”

The minister added that now the first task is to resume the work of the joint commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“We are ready to share our experience. Since we have demarcated our border along the entire perimeter of the land and even sea border, the demarcation is almost completed with all states except Russia,” he said.
