Polish PM considers Putin's nuclear threat as bluff

    WORLD  05 October 2022 - 14:15

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and elsewhere "bluff".

In his speech at the Warsaw Security Forum held in the capital, Morawiecki noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to shape his strategy in Ukraine with the threat of using nuclear weapons, and this should not be allowed, TRT Haber reports.

Stating that Putin intends to build Ukraine 's strategy through the threat of nuclear weapons, Morawiecki said, "Putin believes that the only way to win is to escalate the war. He wants us to believe that he will also use nuclear weapons, but this is a tool of blackmail. We have a very historic history in this region. "We know well, and Russia only backs down when there is a counter power in its way. That's why they are so tough."

Morawiecki claimed that Putin's strategy was aimed at "dividing and conquering", noting that Putin wanted the West to deal with its internal issues, inflation and energy, but the war was directly linked to the energy crisis and inflation.

Pointing out that the threats from Russia are not only military, Morawiecki said, "For example, some threats have been completely underestimated in the field of propaganda. In addition, the most critical aspect of this war, energy, is a surprise to many. Putin believes that using it as a weapon will change the dynamics of the war." made its assessment.

Morawiecki said that for Russia to be treated as a democratic state, it had to change very deeply. "Putin recreated the worst demons of the 20th century, nationalism, imperialism. Now they are used as propaganda within Russian society." he said.

Prime Minister Morawiecki stated that financial support to Ukraine is also an important area, and that Russia wants to destroy domestic support by bankrupting Ukraine.
