Series of earthquakes strike Guatemala, leaving two dead, over 300 injured VIDEO
A series of earthquakes shook southwestern Guatemala on July 8, leaving at least two people dead and more than 300 injured, according to the country’s National Coordination Committee for Disaster Reduction (CONRED).
Authorities reported that the strongest quake registered a magnitude of 5.6, with the epicentre located in the southwestern region of the Central American country. The tremors caused widespread panic and damage across several communities.

Preliminary data indicates that two people died as a result of the tremors, 324 sustained injuries, and three were hospitalised. Significant damage was recorded in 43 buildings.
Guatemala, located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to frequent seismic activity.
