Trump sends ceasefire assurance to Hamas via mediator
Bishara Bahbah, an American businessman of Palestinian origin and the main mediator between the leadership of the Palestinian movement Hamas and the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, delivered a message from the White House leader to the organisation’s leaders.
The message assured that hostilities in the Gaza Strip would not resume after the end of the 60-day ceasefire period with Israel.
According to Sky News Arabia, in indirect talks in Doha, Hamas and Israel have moved closer to a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The only unresolved issue remains the status and presence of the Israeli army in the enclave.
The channel reports that the parties have resolved significant disagreements on other matters, such as the process of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and Hamas’s demand for American guarantees that Israel will not restart fighting after the 60-day ceasefire expires.
