Azerbaijan gets invitation to UNESCO world conference in Barcelona

Azerbaijan will be represented at the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT 2025), scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain, from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijani delegation will be led by the Minister of Culture, Adil Karimli, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

On September 28, a “3rd High-Level Ministerial Dialogue on Culture-Based Climate Action” will be held in Barcelona, providing an opportunity to discuss innovative approaches for a sustainable future and promote the integration of culture into the global climate agenda.

MONDIACULT is recognised as the largest intergovernmental platform on cultural policy worldwide, organised under the initiative of UNESCO since 1982. The 2025 conference aims to recognise culture as a key pillar of global development and to include it in the sustainable development agenda through 2030.

The event will address topics such as cultural rights, digital technologies and culture, education and culture, the cultural economy, climate and culture, and heritage, culture, and crisis. It will serve as a unique global platform for sharing experiences and ideas, bringing together representatives from over 100 countries, international organisations, civil society, and cultural experts.
