Global Sumud Flotilla nears Gaza despite Israeli “intervention zone” Map
The international flotilla Global Sumud, carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, has approached the line that Israel has designated as its “intervention zone” in the waters off the enclave.
According to a statement shared on the flotilla’s X account, the vessels are currently around 150 nautical miles from Gaza.
Roos Ikema, founder and director of the human rights organisation MiGreat, which is participating in the mission, highlighted the risks involved.
She also emphasised: “DEMAND SAFE PASSAGE NOW. Governments failed—so ordinary people are risking their lives to deliver aid and open a lifeline to Gaza. After 17 years of siege and total collapse, the minimum governments can do is ensure safe passage for this legal, vital mission.”
