Memoir reveals former British football player stole spoon from Vladimir Putin
SPORT 30 January 2023 - 08:02
Rio Ferdinand, a former British defender for the national football team has stolen a teaspoon from the Kremlin Palace while visiting it for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin back in 2018.
As Lenta.ru reports, former Arsenal player Alex Scott admitted this fact in her memoir called "How (Not) to Be Strong" which is still to be released. The Russian Sports.ru managed to receive a snippet from the book ahead of time.
The athlete said that she and Ferdinand were invited to the Kremlin as members of the legends program of the International Football Federation (FIFA) to discuss the 2018 World Cup which was to be held in Russia. “Rio made me laugh on the way out – he opened his hand to reveal he’d nicked a teaspoon as a memento", she remembered in her book.
