Türkiye's Istanbul Junior European Cup begins with Azerbaijani judoka’s golden triumph
The Istanbul Junior European Cup 2025 kicked off in Türkiye, where Azerbaijani judoka Nizami Imranov delivered a standout performance in the under-66 kg category, claiming gold with an unbeaten run.
Organised by the European Judo Union, the competition highlights the rising talent in the sport at the junior level, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Azerbaijan made a strong start on the opening day, claiming three medals across two weight categories. Meanwhile, in the highly competitive under-60 kg category, Azerbaijani judokas Nihad Mamishov and Farid Qarayev each secured bronze, showcasing the depth of talent in the national team.
Azerbaijan has sent a robust delegation of 38 athletes to the tournament, underscoring the country’s commitment to developing its next generation of judo champions.
