Georgian ruling party supports resumption of flights with Russia
Leader of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia ruling party Irakli Kobakhidze has said that the restoration of flights with Russia would be positively perceived in Georgia.
“Tbilisi welcomes the lifting of restrictions by Moscow,” Kobakhidze noted, according to Gazeta.Ru.
“If the sanctions are lifted by Russia, this will be welcomed by us in the interests of our fellow citizens and compatriots,” he said.
The leader of the ruling party added that the flights between the two countries were suspended due to Russia's decision.
He also added that in such conditions, Georgia does not think it correct to compare the issue of restoring flights with "tango", which requires two.
Direct flights between Russia and Georgia were suspended in the summer of 2019 amid anti-Russian demonstrations in Tbilisi.
