Armenia reveals next parliamentary elections date
Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled to take place on June 7, 2026, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan announced.
"Today is the 7th of June. There is exactly one year left till the next elections of the National Assembly of Armenia. They will be held on June 7, 2026. The countdown is on," Simonyan stated, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Armenia functions as a parliamentary republic, where the National Assembly holds the authority to elect the Prime Minister, the most influential position within the country’s political system. The previous parliamentary elections were held in 2021, and the current legislature will serve out its term until the upcoming vote.
The announcement comes amid growing political tensions. The Armenian opposition has launched an impeachment process against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, citing discontent over his recent remarks and policies.
