Armenia losing popularity as tourism destination for Iranians

Armenian Tourism Federation President Mekhak Apresyan has announced a decrease in the number of Iranian citizens visiting Armenia.

According to him, visiting Armenia is becoming more and more expensive for Iranians, Caliber.az reports quoting Armenian media.

"The reason lies in the dramatic appreciation of the dram against the [US] dollar and the euro, with inflation in Iran. This leads to an increase in the cost of the Armenian tourism product and the cost of travelling to Armenia," said Apresyan.

He noted that the figures have significantly decreased compared to 2022.

Apresyan added that the passivity of Iranians has not only manifested itself in visits to Armenia, as outbound tourism from Iran is less active in all destinations.
