Belarus president declares readiness for dialogue with Europe

Belarus is open for dialogue with its European neighbors, but it needs a new Europe, a truly independent, good neighborly one.

This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on March 31, speaking with a message to the Belarusian people and parliament, TASS reports.

“I know that many are wondering how to live with our western neighbors? I will answer: we do not close the doors in our relations, we do not escalate the degree of political tension that goes off scale, we do not rattle weapons at the borders,” the head of state noted.

According to him, Minsk is open for dialogue. “You are our neighbors, Europeans. We are ready to cooperate with you and do everything possible under the current conditions. You are welcome,” he said.

According to him, Belarus is Europe, its geographical center. “Neither the Poles, nor the Lithuanians, nor the Latvians will be able to isolate themselves from us with any fences with barbed wire,” Lukashenko continued. - But we need a new Europe, truly independent, good neighborly, economically developed, politically strong, spiritually rich and culturally multifaceted. And, of course, woven into the Eurasian space in all key dimensions of cooperation.” Lukashenko believes that more and more Europeans understand the importance of this and openly talk about it.
