Switzerland, Ukraine sign treaty to support post-war reconstruction
Switzerland and Ukraine have signed an international treaty in Rome to strengthen cooperation on the reconstruction of Ukraine following the devastating war.
The bilateral agreement is grounded in the State Treaty approved by the Swiss Federal Council on June 25. It highlights Switzerland’s commitment to a long-term partnership and increased involvement of the Swiss private sector in Ukraine’s reconstruction projects, Caliber.Az reports per Swiss media.
At the conference, the Swiss delegation launched several new initiatives focusing on decentralisation, democratic education, and training in Ukraine. In collaboration with the Basel Institute on Governance, Switzerland also hosted a panel discussion addressing Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to prevent and combat corruption.
Representing Switzerland at the fourth Ukraine Reconstruction Conference since the Russian invasion were Ambassador Jacques Gerber. Ukraine was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
By the end of May 2025, Switzerland had provided approximately CHF 5.16 billion ($ 5.68 billion) in support to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine and Switzerland. The Swiss government has pledged an additional CHF 5 billion in aid to Ukraine spanning from 2025 through 2036.
