Russian official: No reason to talk about ethnic cleansing in Garabagh

Spokesperson for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has said that the Kremlin does not see any reason to talk about “ethnic cleansing” in Garabagh yet.

“There are direct talks, during which we convey our possible concern,” he told Channel One, TASS reports.

The Russian official drew attention to Baku’s statements that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces shell only military facilities, rather than civilians.

“We hope that this is so. We are convinced that all rights and security of the Armenian population of Garabagh are ensured,” Peskov said.

“Of course, Garabagh is Azerbaijan’s internal issue,” he said, answering a corresponding question, he said.

“Azerbaijan acts on its territory, which is recognised by the Armenian leadership,” Peskov added.
