Armenian Airlines suspended from commercial operations for six months
Armenian Airlines has been stripped of its ability to operate flights for a period of six months, following a decision by the Armenian Civil Aviation Committee.
According to the regulatory body, the airline's Air Operator Certificate — a mandatory authorisation for conducting commercial air transport — has been suspended, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The decision, taken on May 6, was based on the carrier's failure to provide any airworthy aircraft or valid leasing contracts for such aircraft.
The Committee notes that the certificate suspension is temporary, but if Armenian Airlines does not submit documentation proving it possesses serviceable aircraft or active lease agreements within the six-month window, the certificate will be permanently revoked.
The decision effectively halts all commercial operations by Armenian Airlines, casting uncertainty over the company's future unless it promptly resolves its fleet deficiencies.
