Türkiye tests underwater launch system for GEZGİN cruise missile
The Turkish Naval Forces have successfully tested a key component of the GEZGİN National Joint Cruise Missile project, marking a major advancement in the country’s defence capabilities, according to the Navy’s recently released three-year activity report.
The tests involved the launch of an encapsulated mass-equivalent version of the GEZGİN missile, conducted at the Aksaz Naval Base using the Submarine Test Infrastructure (DATA) developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

The Navy emphasised that GEZGİN will provide long-range, deep-strike capability against high-value land targets, enhancing the strategic reach of the Turkish Armed Forces. The DATA platform enables safe and realistic underwater testing of missile systems, paving the way for future operational deployment, the report said.
The report also noted ongoing integration efforts of the GEZGİN missile with the domestically developed National Vertical Launching System (MİDLAS), with harmonisation studies currently in progress.
Although technical specifications remain undisclosed, GEZGİN is expected to offer a longer range than existing Turkish cruise missiles such as SOM and ATMACA, due to its strategic mission profile.
Additionally, the Kapsüllü ATMACA submarine-launched cruise missile is on track for mass production in 2026, following successful testing phases.
