Kazakhstan to tighten conditions for obtaining identity documents
Kazakhstan will start mandatory fingerprint (dactyloscopic) registration of citizens when obtaining identity documents from next year, said Nurzhan Dzhanabaev, senior inspector of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
“From January 1, 2024, mandatory fingerprint registration of citizens will be introduced when receiving a passport and identity card,” Dzhanabaev said, Gazeta.ru reports.
As the senior inspector of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan added, fingerprint registration is a way to obtain information about the structural features of the papillary patterns of the fingers.
The fingerprint registration will affect all citizens of Kazakhstan and foreigners permanently residing in the republic, except for children under the age of 12 years. If the procedure is refused, administrative liability may follow, Dzhanabaev warned.
