Georgian premier: Abkhazia, South Ossetia main problem of state
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili made a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the end of the Abkhaz war.
“The liberation of the regions occupied by Russia and the unification of our country remains the main problem of our state and society,” Caliber.Az reports with reference to Georgian media.
The Georgian prime minister emphasized that the war in Abkhazia left a heavy mark on the life of the country.
“Ethnic cleansing displaced hundreds of thousands of people from their native lands, and the war cost the lives of many of our citizens. This is very sad. The liberation of territories occupied by Russia and the unification of our country remains the main problem of our state and society,” he said.
Garibashvili noted that Georgia is committed to resolving the issue of territorial integrity through peaceful means.
“Our government is resolutely following this path, since we are firmly convinced that peace is the basis for building a united, strong, developed country with our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers,” the prime minister said.
“I believe that the future will bring unity, peace and prosperity to Abkhazians and Georgians,” the prime minister said.
