Azerbaijani Border Service nabs 52 trespassers in September

In September 2023, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan continued measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration, and illicit drug trafficking.

As Caliber.Az was informed by the State Border Service, during the reporting period, 52 people were detained for violating the state border, 18 of them were citizens of Azerbaijan.

As part of the fight against illegal migration, 27 people were detained while trying to cross the state border with fake passports, visas and date stamps. Some 912 people were detained for violating border regulations, and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As part of measures to combat crime, 370 wanted people were detained and transferred to the relevant authorities, the departure of 510 people who were prohibited from leaving the country was prevented, and the entry of 17 people who were prohibited from entering Azerbaijan was prevented.

As a result of measures to combat illicit drug trafficking, 46.2 kg of various types of narcotic drugs and 307 psychotropic tablets were seized from illicit trafficking.

As part of the fight against smuggling, contraband totaling 668,936 manats was identified and seized, including drugs, an air pistol, medicines, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
