20 January tragedy victims commemorated in Moldova
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Moldova has arranged a commemorative event to mark the 34th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy.
The ceremony started with a minute of silence for the victims of the 20 January tragedy. The participants put flowers in front of the corner dedicated to the memory of the victims of the tragedy, Azartac reports.
The embassy diplomats, Azerbaijanis living in Moldova, as well as students attended the commemorative event.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ulvi Bakhshaliyev said that 20 January is a day of remembrance and pride.
"The first political and legal assessment of the 20 January tragedy was given by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. The memory of all martyred heroes will live forever in the hearts of every Azerbaijani. We avenged our martyrs on the battlefield, and Azerbaijan has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty," the diplomat noted.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Congress of Moldovan Azerbaijanis Elchin Bayramov mentioned that the 20 January tragedy is one of the bloodiest pages in the history of Azerbaijan, and played an important role on the road to freedom for the country.
The participants also viewed an exhibition of photos highlighting the 20 January tragedy events organized outside the embassy.
