Presidential elections to last three days in Russia for first time Russian Central Election Commission’s decision

The Russian presidential elections will last three days, from March 15 to 17.

The corresponding resolution was adopted by members of the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC), according to the CEC.

“The draft resolution envisages voting in the presidential elections within three days – March 15, 16, 17, 2024,” chairperson of the CEC Ella Pamfilova said.

During the first meeting of the commission after the official announcement of the date of the presidential elections, the issue was put to a vote. Proceeding from the voting results, the voting format was determined within three days.

Pamfilova assessed the level of preparation for the 2024 presidential elections, adding that many new technical means, various innovations will be used during the elections.

The Federation Council has recently set the date for the presidential elections - March 17, 2024. Russian President Vladimir Putin did not announce any plans to run for office; his press secretary Dmitry Peskov called for “patience”.

"Putin will announce it when he considers it necessary and expedient. You know that always in his work Putin has always relied and relies on the support of people, pursuing the main interest - improving the welfare and living standards of our people," Peskov said.
