Hungarian PM, Russian president explore three key issues
WORLD 05 July 2024 - 20:52
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the positions of Moscow and Kyiv on resolving the Ukrainian conflict are far apart, but expressed his intention to continue working towards a resolution.
"There are many steps to take to bring the war to an end," Orban told a press conference following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"However, the most important step we've taken is establishing contact, and I will continue to work in this regard," Orban added.
"I wanted to hear and did hear President Putin's opinions on three important issues: his thoughts on the current peace initiatives, his views on a ceasefire and peace negotiations, and the order in which they could be conducted, and third, his vision of Europe after the war. I am grateful to the President for the frank and honest conversation," the Hungarian Prime Minister noted.
Orban visited Moscow on July 5, following his trip to Kyiv on July 2, where he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
