Afghan Fatemiyun brigade pledges loyalty to Iran’s new supreme leader
The Afghan Fatemiyun Brigade, an Iran-backed paramilitary group, has sworn allegiance to Mojtaba Khamenei following his appointment as Supreme Leader of Iran after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike, as per Iran International.
The brigade described itself as “the sword in the hands of the new leader of the Islamic Revolution” and vowed to defend Iran’s Islamic system against American and Israeli adversaries.
In its statement, the group said Mojtaba Khamenei’s appointment had strengthened the hopes of supporters of the “axis of resistance.”
Composed mainly of Afghan fighters and organised under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Fatemiyun Brigade pledged to continue supporting Iran and allied militias in ongoing regional conflicts.
