Airstrikes on Iran kill 35 in Fars province, toll expected to rise
At least 35 residents of Iran’s Fars Province have been killed in US and Israeli airstrikes, said director of the province’s Martyrs Foundation, who warned that the toll could rise as the attacks continue.
Tasnim News Agency reported that, in addition to those killed in Lamerd, 13 people have died in Shiraz and other cities across the province.
Reports also indicate that two “prominent” individuals were killed in Tehran. Plans are underway to transfer their bodies to Fars Province for funeral rites and burial.
A memorial ceremony for 20 victims of strikes on residential buildings and a sports hall in Lamerd is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time. Following the ceremony, some of the victims’ bodies will be transported to nearby towns and villages for burial.
