Almost 6,000 buildings destroyed in Türkiye
The number of buildings identified as "destroyed" as a result of the earthquakes was 11,302, with 5,775 confirmed.
The statement came from Orhan Tatar, the general director of earthquake and risk reduction at the AFAD [Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency], TRT Haber reports.
"The number of our citizens who have died to date is 3,381 people, the number of wounded is 20,426 people, the number of confirmed destroyed buildings is 5,775, but the total number of buildings damaged buildings has not yet been confirmed is 11,302," he said.
According to him, the earthquake impact zone covers an area of about 110,000 square kilometres, and the effects of the earthquake were felt on the territory corresponding to about one-seventh of the territory of Türkiye.
Tatar said that so far there have been 285 aftershocks.
