American Delta Airlines to block flight seats due to heavier average passengers
The American United Airlines carrier will have to start blocking flight seats due to a new regulation on weight requirements per passenger.
This was reported by the Belgian Aviation24 website.
The American Federal Aviation Administration is overseeing all regulations in the industry and has now increased the average weight of passengers and therefore changed the regulations on the number of people aircrafts are capable of carrying.
According to the FAA’s reports American passengers have increased by 6-15 kgs in weight, with fluctuations existing between genders and even seasons.
As a consequence, the winter weight averages for both males and females exceed the required amount for Boeing 757’s to fly, which is why seats will have to be blocked from November 1st to April 30th of 2023.
According to the Aviation24 website, at least six seats are expected to be blocked per flight for each route via United Airlines Boeing 757s.
