American expert exposes Biden and Democrats' manipulations in Karabakh issue
The administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden, by manipulating internal and international processes, engaged in propaganda to create a distorted picture of reality, according to an analytical article by Ivan Sasha Shikhan, a professor at the University of Baltimore and conflictology expert.
Domestically, this often concealed the true scale of economic problems, social protests, and crises. A similar approach was applied in international politics, where a policy of double standards became a hallmark of rhetoric, particularly regarding Azerbaijan and Armenia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The author points out that the White House repeatedly misled Americans, including convincing them of the economy's prosperity while facing inflation and rising costs. Additionally, Biden violated his promise not to interfere in his son's affairs by pardoning him and his brother, raising questions about fairness.
According to Shikhan, the Democratic Party demanded that obvious facts be ignored, leading to a decisive withdrawal of public support.
He notes that just hours before the inauguration of the current U.S. President, Donald Trump, a Democratic representative from Nevada's First District, Dina Titus, posted on X that 18 Armenian "political prisoners" were standing trial today after "ethnic cleansing in Artsakh by Azerbaijan," condemning these "fake trials."
"For those wondering what 'Artsakh' is, I'll answer that it doesn't exist. This land is internationally recognized, including by the U.S. government, as an integral part of Azerbaijan, but since the 1990s, it was illegally occupied by Russian-supported ethnic Armenian separatists. Rather, 'Artsakh' was the name given to this land by the separatists. Azerbaijan fully regained control over the breakaway state – the actual name is Karabakh – during the 2023 war, after which 'Artsakh' was dissolved by its leaders. The 'ethnic cleansing' Titus speaks of is the return of its own armed forces to Armenia," states the professor.
The expert also mentions that Rubén Vardanyan, the leader of "Artsakh," is a Russian oligarch of Armenian descent who earned his billions laundering money in early 1990s Russia.
"He was long a representative of Russian interests, earning the nickname 'Putin's Wallet,' and is currently under sanctions from Ukraine for supporting and profiting from Russia's illegal war there. He was appointed the state minister of the then-illegal and unrecognized, now nonexistent 'Artsakh,' where some believe he acted as an agent of the Kremlin, supporting Moscow's efforts to destabilize the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and bolstering Russia's weakening influence in the region.
As for the 'secret trial' and 'fake court,' local media attended the opening of the trial, and the next stage will be open to the public. Radio Free Europe, funded by the U.S. government, reports that the accused were assigned lawyers and translators, as they are entitled to."
Of course, Representative Titus knows this and understands that Americans can verify the facts themselves.
So why then does she publicly attack Azerbaijan, a U.S. ally, to support Armenia, a country that has only acted to strengthen its own and Russian interests – a country that recently erected a monument to a prominent Nazi collaborator in its capital? Readers will not be surprised to learn that Nevada ranks fifth among U.S. states in terms of its Armenian population.
This is not the first time a prominent Democrat, with a large Armenian diaspora in their constituency, has prioritized Armenian (and thus Russian) interests over those of the U.S. to gain votes. Adam Schiff of California, ironically known for calling Trump a "Russian puppet," was no stranger to accusations of lobbying for the interests of the illegal separatist state.
Most Americans would agree that separatist leaders should face trial if they are caught by the country they attempted to occupy. This is only controversial if someone denies the obvious evidence of what they see and hear.
If Democrats want to understand how they lost the trust of the U.S., they should start by reading 1984. Let's hope they read it the way it was intended – as a warning about how those in power can manipulate truth and facts, not as a manual for action," concluded Professor Ivan Sasha Shikhan.
