Amid deteriorating of ties with Russia, Armenia ratifies Rome Statute

03 October 2023 14:07

The Armenian Parliament ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at its October 3 session.

Only Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract faction took part in the discussions on the ratification of the Rome Statute, which has already announced that it will vote for the adoption of the corresponding bill, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.

The opposition factions issued a statement and condemned the government's decision on this issue, noting that by such a step, they are jeopardising allied relations with Russia, which is fraught with severe consequences for Armenia.

The Hayastan faction and I Have Honor alliance left the session during the discussion of the statute and did not take part in the voting.
