Turkish authorities have issued detention warrants for 36 people, including the mayor of Ankara’s Çankaya district, Hüseyin Can Güner, as part of a corruption investigation led by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported.
So far, 27 suspects have been detained, with efforts ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining individuals.
The investigation involves allegations of forming and participating in a criminal organisation, as well as bribery and irregularities in public procurement processes.
A court has authorised searches of suspects’ residences and the seizure of evidence. Police also carried out a search at the Çankaya municipality building during the operation.
Authorities said efforts to detain the remaining suspects are continuing.
