Ankara holds high-level security meeting on risks along Iranian border
The Interior Ministry of Türkiye has held a high-level meeting to assess security risks along the country’s border with Iran amid escalating regional tensions.
According to Azerbaijani media, the meeting took place on Sunday, March 1, under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, with participants reviewing potential consequences of the worsening situation in the region.
Officials emphasised the importance of strengthening security measures along the Turkish-Iranian state border. The ministry said discussions focused on additional steps to combat illegal migration, possible response scenarios for crisis situations, improving interagency coordination, and increasing the operational capacity of local authorities and structures.
The meeting was attended, among others, by the governors of the eastern provinces of Iğdır Province, Hakkâri Province, Ağrı Province, and Van Province.
