Ankara meets British defense official for talks on Eurofighter purchase

The UK’s defense procurement minister has been welcomed in Ankara amid talks regarding the Turkish purchase of Eurofighter jets. 

Türkiye's Defense Minister Yashar Güler has met the British defense official responsible for procurement and industry matters within the UK ministry, Maria Eagles, on December 18 after two Eurofighter jets landed at an Ankara airport. As Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media, the airplanes took part in a military exercise in Qatar. 

Minister Güler previously stated that the discussions concerning the procurement of the fighters were progressing positively. Ankara officially announced in 2023 that it was in talks with the Eurofighter consortium members Britain and Spain to buy 40 Typhoon Eurofighters, but Germany objected to the purchase at the time.
